Flickr is a photo sharing site that has a wealth of educational and instructional uses.

 

Get a free account to get started.  You might even want to set up a classroom account, using an email created on a free site, such as Yahoo or Gmail.

 

Photos uploaded to the account can be set to private, shared with select individuals, or public.

 

 


Ideas and Tips for Using Flickr

Set up a group or set for student access.  This will save bandwidth and make for quicker access online.

Have students tell stories in five frames or pictures.  Create a title for the visual story and then select the pictures.  Look here for examples.

Both of these are free tools that provide a wide range of options for using digital pictures (both with and without Flickr access) as learning tools.

The Flickr Toys at Big Huge Labs has options for making magazine covers, trading cards, photo cubes, dialog boxes, mosaics, jigsaw puzzles, and many more.  The site does NOT require registration for uploading pictures.  Also, pictures are NOT stored on the site permanently.

RSS 2 PDF for Flickr allows you to upload up to 10 images from your Flickr account and easily create a PDF file from them.  This site does NOT require registration.
